Inspired by Maine’s magical coast, this bag combines the soft and rugged Kodiak leather, sturdy industrial brass, and dock line rope that feels so comfortable on your shoulder. Designed for your life, it’s got plenty of room for your day (from your laptop to beach towel depending on what moves you) and it can handle the tough stuff. This bag actually gets better with age — you’ll feel the leather get softer, and you’ll see the beautiful patina deepen the more you wear it. It’s the classic must-have bag to put you on the beach even when you’re in the boardroom.

Optional add ons

With two pockets, you can easily fit your laptop along with anything else you need for the day. Each bag is sewn with industrial thread so the thick leather will keep all your belongings secure. One side of the front pocket (and the bag interior) is soft suede and the rest of the bag is smooth leather.

  • Handbag is 14" wide x 16" tall x 3.5" deep
  • Rope handle is an 11" drop (measured from the brass hardware to the top of the bag handle). The full length of the rope is 24".

Since our leather has naturally high oil content, it’s very self-sustaining, and you don’t need to treat it right away. For any scuffs along the way, just give it a quick buff to make it look new. You can always rejuvenate the leather as needed using a leather oil like neatsfoot oil every few years, too or send your bag to be pampered at the Wildwood Oyster Co. Bag Spa for a deep conditioning, weatherproofing, and new rope handle refresh.

All items on the website are ready to ship unless it is on preorder. You can expect to receive an email confirmation that your package has been shipped within one business day which will include a tracking number. We have pickups scheduled on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. We use full-grain, oil-tanned leather in our brown leather Original Wildwood Bags. It’s strong, naturally weather-resistant, and develops a rich, personalized patina over time. No two bags age the same, which is exactly the point. You can view the specs on all of our leathers in our leather care guide.

We intentionally keep our bags unlined to highlight the natural beauty of the leather inside and out. The construction is minimal but incredibly strong, with reinforced seams where it counts.

Our Original Wildwood Bag is designed to be substantial but not bulky. It’s roomy without feeling weighed down, even when loaded up for a full day out. The dock line handles are comfortable on the shoulder—even over a heavy coat. A lot of our customers who are concerned about weight opt for a crossbody or our smaller bags like the Mermaid Purse, Sling, or Zip Crossbody.

Some of our leathers and rope colors are core to the brand—others are limited editions. If you see a combination you love, don’t wait too long. Our community tends to act fast on special drops.

Yes, especially if you store it in its original dust bag. That said, we design our bags to break in and take on the shape of your life—that’s part of the charm.

The leather is rugged and built to last. We recommend conditioning it a few times a year to keep it looking its best. You can also send your bag for some pampering at the Wildwood Bag Spa if you'd like us to recondition your bag, change your rope handle, or convert it to a crossbody!
