Our signature salt air style is known for its gorgeous raw materials combined in an effortless way:
My life took an awesome detour on my birthday in 2017. My sister surprised me with a whole leather hide – an amazing gift that would soon (unknowingly to me) become Wildwood Oyster Co.
I grabbed my sketchbook and wanted to design a bag for myself that was fashionable, durable, and reminded me of the ocean. I also wanted to create something that was unlike anything else out there. That’s when I saw the Original Tote come onto the page – the effortlessly stunning classic minimalist boho bag designed for coastal life – holding everything from a laptop to a beach towel.
I started wearing my bag around town and everyone complimented me on my bag and asked me where they could buy one. It was a sign that I needed to turn this passion project into something bigger.
That was the day that Wildwood Oyster Co. was officially born, and I’m so amazed at how far it’s come in a short time – thanks to all of you. I’m so appreciative of each and every one of you every single day!
The dock line rope carries me back to my coastal hometown of Scituate, a charming fishing town on the coast of Massachusetts. It also connects me to my present, as I soak in the salt air, pine trees, and island life while cruising through the Casco Bay in Maine. I use these vibrant colors (from classic hues all the way to bright neons) to make a little pop for the everyday look.
And, finally, I fell in love with industrial brass to pull it all together. It’s the perfect last touch for a little edge and that golden ray of sunshine from a summer day.
Like a first baby photo, here is the very first Original Wildwood Co. Leather Tote bag! It’s now Becky’s five-year old bag that gets even better with age – the leather softening and the stunning patina deepening the more she wears it!
How our name came to be
My family and I have been growing oysters for fun near our house since 2015. When I first started oyster farming, there weren't a lot of resources online for oyster farming hobbyists like myself, so I started blogging about what I was learning to share it with others. Three years later when I decided to start a handbag company, I decided to turn my blog, Wildwood Oyster Co., into my handbag brand. To me, Wildwood Oyster Co. connects me to nature, my love of the ocean, and that's how I want our customers to feel when they wear my designs.
Our Oyster FarmOur heart lives forever on the water. We invite you to join in our love for salt air. We also welcome you to these scenes from Maine. Let’s walk through a beautiful year together.
Summer in Maine
With sand and salt air in our hair, we live outside from sunrise to sunset. Each morning brings a new adventure, whether it’s working on our modest little oyster farm or spending a lazy beach day under a wide brimmed hat. When days end alongside friends while we enjoy lobster rolls and melting ice cream cones against a pink sky, life feels magical.
Fall in Maine
Like a crème brulée, our summer days slowly ease into orange skies and auburn leaves. In this beautiful time of transition, you’ll still find us on the beach – only now with our sleeves pulled over our hands and our sweatshirt hood pulled tight against the crisp salt breeze. In a season of open fires, warm drinks, and festive plans, Maine welcomes deep gratitude.
Winter in Maine
There’s a smell in the air, and a certain shade of sky, when you know it’s about to snow. It’s when we love to sit on the beach, the world enveloped in a soft silence, and watch the sand turn into a plush white blanket. Year after year, these white flakes return to meet the white capped waves after a long absence. It’s one of the most beautiful scenes we feel honored to experience.
